Before partnering with Boulder Bookworks, Colorado Mountain Club Press sold a total of 11,353 books in 2005. After work to reinvigorate the publishing program, we sold 17,865 books in 2008, for a 57% increase in units sold. For the same three year period we are project an increase in revenue of 69%, for an annualized gross revenue increase of 19%. The Colorado Mountain Club Press continues to be profitable since partnering with Boulder Bookworks.

During our publishing partnership, Boulder Bookworks has overhauled and renewed the list: we've put several titles out of print, written down some inventory, reprinted three titles, redesigned backlist to stimulate sales, and added ten new titles. The coming year will see an additional six new titles.

Now that The Colorado Mountain Club has Boulder Bookworks as a publishing partner, they receive the following services for a single, reasonable monthly fee:

—Production management
—Marketing collateral
—Marketing management of distributor
—Sales management of distributor

While Boulder Bookworks manages copyediting, design, composition, proofreading, and printing, these title-specific costs of goods are invoiced to client as project expenses. Accounting and sales to members remain the sole responsibility of The Colorado Mountain Club.
